A history lesson
Let me set the stage…
It’s November of 2022 - ChatGPT is just released - everyone is losing their mind
… flash forward a little bit to June 2023
AI is making its way into all of our favorite productivity apps…
And Ai writing tools are becoming more relevant…
… flash forward to March 2024
- everyone in the content space has been using AI and abusing the hell out of it
So much so that Google slapped everyone who was with a 40% decrease in search authority
But it wasn’t enough 🙃
You can’t escape Ai now in the search engines
And worse
… in thought leadership content
Cough cough a critical piece in demand gen campaigns
So why is this bad?
Well to understand why, you first have to understand how Ai works
simply put, AI is trained on a large data set of old blogs/textbooks
And when you prompt chatgpt or Gemini with a question -
Ai writes word by word predicting the next word based on that old dataset
Sooo
Basically AI has no idea what it’s talking about all the time
It is just using math to decide the next word in the sequence
So tell me this
How could you possibly use ai to write thought leadership content if…
Ai doesn’t even know what it’s talking about
AND is trained on old / outdated data from a variety of trusted AND not trustworthy data
… I’ll save you the Friday thinking juice and say…
It’s not possible
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Maybe dial back the Ai a bit and provide some supervision
Sort of like how you provide supervision over one’s dog
You should definitely do the same for your Ai content you blast to the world
